The Castle of Fontanellato
Description
The XIV century castle is located at the center of a small village near Parma. Surrounded by a moat full of water and protected by wide crenellated walls, from the outside the castle of Fontanellato, or to be more precise Rocca Sanvitale di Fontanellato, resembles an ancient and impregnable fortress.
Inside the castle of Fontanellato there is a fresco of rare beauty, the work of Parmigianino. The trip to Fontanellato and the visit to the castle are also interesting for seeing the surroundings of Parma and going on a medieval excursion.
